

It was initially known as FiOS from Frontier or Frontier FiOS. It has almost 485000 video subscribers and 3069000 broadband internet subscribers. These services are offered in 29 states of the United States. It provides several services like telephone services to local and long distances along with digital television services, broadband internet, and computer technical services for business as well as local consumers. For instance, in 2000, it sold Louisiana natural gas to Atmos energy, in 2002, Hawaii gas utility to K1 Ventures, etc. It sold some of its non-telephone divisions between the late 1990s and early 2000s. But today it is serving several large metropolitan markets.

In the beginning, it provided services to rural areas and some small communities. It was known as citizens Communication Company till 31 July 2008 and then it was named as citizen’s utility company in May 2000 after which the stockholders agreed to change its name to Frontier Communications Corporation.
